If you've been watching beauty/makeup-related videos in YouTube chances are you've heard of this brand from the UK. I first heard of Sleek Makeup from Pixiwoo. This is a drugstore brand but of very good quality according to numerous online reviews of their products. Never thought I'd be able to get my hands on these since they are not locally available until I learned of Updated Trends which is the official distributor of Sleek Makeup here in the Phils.
They were at the recently held Superb Super Sale Bazaar at SMX where I met Smile, the proprietor of Updated Trends/Sleek Makeup Ph. She is lovely, btw. =) She helped me pick the right shade of foundation and also had a little chat about the brand and makeup in general.
After spending several minutes swatching their testers I decided to get two powder blushes and their creme foundation.
First in the list is Sleek Makeup Creme to Powder Foundation which normally retails at PhP 725. This is a full coverage oil-free creme foundation that dries into a matte powder finish. I got the shade Bamboo (NC40-45). It comes in a compact with mirror and separate compartment for the sponge. Got to test this for almost two weeks now with or without primer and I LOVE it! Primarily because it indeed gives a full coverage. It is highly pigmented that I only need a little amount to cover my entire face. It also doubles as concealer which is great. I have dark pigmentation on my left cheek which is due to acne and a single layer of this foundation diminishes my dark spots. I then spot conceal using the same foundation to fully cover my dark spots. As for the finish, it doesn't really dry into a matte powder finish on my extremely oily skin but rather gives a dewy finish which can be remedied by pairing this with a primer and setting with powder. It can be layered and doesn't get cakey. It lasts around 4 hours on my skin without primer and around 6-8 hours with primer and setting powder. Also, quite surprised it didn't break me out. The only thing I don't like with this foundation is that it smells like soap and it irritates my sensitive nose. =(
Next is the powder blush in Rose Gold (PhP 450). I think this is the most sought after blush in their collection because it is sold out most of the time. This is usually compared to NARS Orgasm but I can't really say as I don't have that particular blush. But I can say it is very similar to the blusher in my NYX Sunrise in Bali bronzer & blusher combo. I like this one better because it is more pigmented. Texture is very fine without any chunky glitters. The gold shimmer is just pretty. =)
Last but not the least, the powder blush in Coral (PhP 450). I got this one because I don't have anything like it. It is a matte powder blusher. Texture is also very fine and pigmentation is superb.
Here I have swatched Bamboo (Left), Rose Gold (Middle) and Coral (Right). Notice how a single layer of creme foundation covers the pigmentation on my hand and it doesn't give a white cast when photographed with flash.
Overall, I love these products and so glad they are finally here in the Philippines. The packaging doesn't look and feel like cheap plastic. Although I must say they easily get dirty and removing makeup stains on them is almost impossible. Nonetheless, these are still fantastic products. =) xoxo
