How To/EOTD: Make my eye look bigger with color

This tutorial is about having the illusion of bigger eyes.  I know there are a lot of tips/tutorials/blog posts/videos out there about this and what I find common is the use of light and neutral colors to make the eyes appear bigger.  So I thought of doing this look using colors other than neutral because I just happen to love color especially on my eye! :P

Glad that I learned this technique in makeup school because not only can I fake a full night's sleep but this also helps recede my droopy crease.  They call this the "open banana" technique.  The banana comes from the shape of the crease which resembles the shape of a banana and the term open means the corners of the eye are not touched by the crease color.

Started off by priming my skin then applied foundation.  Corrected and concealed my dark under eyes then set everything with loose powder.  I also filled in my eyebrows using a brown pencil.  I used UDPP + Revlon Photoready concealer stick as base on my entire eye (which causes the shimmery effect).  Then I placed eyeshadow #22 (matte purple) from my Tarte The Jewelry Box palette on to my lid as shown below.  I packed it on using a flat shader.  (All brushes used are from my Charm Pro brush kit and all e/s are from the same Tarte palette which I got from House of Flair)

I then applied eyeshadow #32 (matte green) from the same Tarte palette on to my crease blending it upwards using a tapered blending brush.  The crease color should not "close" the inner and outer corners of the eye.  (That image has some weird color cast and I apologize for that... my lighting setup is not that ideal at the moment)

Defined the outer third of the crease by applying #30 (matte black) using a precise crease brush and blending it just enough to give depth to my eye.

Used a white liner blended onto the brow bone and topped with #17 eyeshadow (matte cream) blended downwards meeting the crease color using.

Applied black mascara (Revlon Grow Luscious by Fabulash) and lined the lower waterline with a white pencil (The Face Shop White Pencil  + e.l.f. white liner pencil).  Also, lined the lower lash line with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on pencil in Whiskey and set with #24 (matte brown) eyeshadow.

I just added the false eyelashes shown at the top picture for some drama =P  (Applied some black liquid liner to hide the band of the falsies)  But this is optional.

The image above shows the "illusion" I was talking about.  The other eye is a sneak peek of my upcoming How To/EOTD which is the opposite of this tutorial. xoxo
