Makeup Remover Part II: The Face Shop Oil Specialist Brightening Cleansing Oil

The very first cleansing oil I've tried is Shu Uemura's.  I got samples of some of their variants from a personal makeup session they sponsored.  At first I was skeptical because I already have very oily skin and I wasn't comfortable with the idea of putting more oil on my skin.  =P  Glad I finally gave it a try and I loved it.  Unfortunately, the samples I got lasted only a few applications.  So I tried purchasing a full size cleansing oil but I backed out when I found out how expensive they are.  =P  (I'm such a cheapskate hehehe).

So I sort of forgot about cleansing oils and moved on to other products available in the market.  Then suddenly Korean cosmetic brands became so popular new stores started popping up like mushrooms.  I got curious and checked out The Face Shop.  (Actually got intrigued by the name and thought it was a competitor of The Body Shop =P)  And boy oh boy, look what I found...

I bought TFS' Oil Specialist Brightening Cleansing Oil because it looks so much like Shu Uemura's and thought I'd give it a try.  (Can't really remember how much this costs but it is definitely cheaper) I don't think this should be compared to Shu Uemura's cleansing oils because this has a different formulation.  Although I must admit I had high expectations.  Not really on the brightening effect but more on the ability to remove makeup especially waterproof ones.

Just like other cleansing oils, this should be applied on the face without water.  Gently massage to dissolve makeup and then add some water to emulsify.  Rinse off with water.

I must say I'm not that happy with this product.  It feels heavier and is more difficult to rinse off which might be causing the breakouts I get each time I use it.  I think the mineral oil content is responsible for this.  Didn't really see any brightening effect either.  Very disappointed with the plasticky scent, too.

But even if I break out from using this cleansing oil I still find myself reaching for it because this can really remove the most long-wearing, waterproof and heavy-duty makeup I use on my face.  Just have to make sure I follow up with a facial wash to get rid of all the residual oil on my face.

I don't think I'll be buying this one again and I'm just trying to use it all up.  In my quest to finish the entire contents of this bottle I've discovered other uses for this as well.  =P  I use this to clean my brush roll and it is very effective in removing stubborn makeup stains.  I just apply using a cotton ball and wipe with a tissue.  I've also tried cleaning my brushes with this and it takes out liquid/cream products plus it conditions the bristles as well.  Just have to make sure it doesn't get into the ferrule as it will cause the glue to breakdown.

Sorry for the lengthy post but I hope this has been helpful. =)  xoxo
